Other e-Visa types

A separate list covers business and medical e-Visas. For most countries the e-Business Visa costs US$120 and the e-Medical and e-Medical Attendant Visas cost US$80. Some countries pay more. Australian citizens pay US$215 for an e-Business Visa 3.

Extra charges, payment and refunds

  • Bank charges are added to the e-Visa fee: 3% for debit or credit cards and 4% for PayPal, including taxes 1.
  • You must pay at least 4 days before your expected travel date, or the application will not be processed 1.
  • The e-Visa fee is non-refundable. It pays for processing and does not depend on whether the visa is granted or rejected 1.
  • The Government of India makes no provision for emergency or express fees for any e-Visa 1. A site asking for one is not the official site.
  • If money is taken from your card but the payment is not recorded, the official site says the amount is refunded to your card within 7 days of the transaction after reconciliation 1.

Regular (paper) visa fees

If you cannot use the e-Visa, you apply at an Indian embassy or consulate. Each mission publishes its own fees, and they vary by nationality, length and visa type 4.

As an example, the Embassy of India in Paris charges a tourist visa fee of €92 for up to 1 year and €183 for more than 1 year and up to 5 years. Every application adds a compulsory €3 Indian Community Welfare Fund fee 4. UK nationals applying there pay €148 for a tourist visa of up to 1 year 4.

Where to apply

Apply for the e-Visa only on the official Government of India site, indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa 1. For a regular visa, check the website of the Indian mission that covers where you live 4.
